May Costco Haul
We usually end up doing a major Costco trip every other month (and sometimes a smaller trip in between). Well, this one was a DOOZY because we were out of so many staple items. I knew it was going to be bad going in, and I definitely had sticker shock at the register. Thank goodness Rich just got his bonus from work because… wow.
Here’s what I bought this month:
See what I mean about sticker shock – wowza!!! But of course it was “Oh your membership is expired, you need to renew” BAM $55 right at the top there. Then I got harassed to get the Executive membership which I’ve told them 1000x I do not want. I just don’t want it. Capeesh? (Yes I know it’s their job to ask but can’t they just mark it on my membership or something that I declined?!)
We needed essentials I’m telling ya. Kitchen bags, dishwasher pods, compost liners. The really fun stuff.
Stocked up on snacks like our favourite granola bars, and thought I would try trail mix this time. I mean, it’s mostly healthy (just pretend the M&M’s aren’t there). Costco is the only place in Canada that I can seem to find the Kettle Corn flavoured Popcorners and they are just delish. I also bought Rich’s favourite cookies from the bakery which are so good and also so bad for you that they don’t include nutritional info on the label. Our trick is to wrap and freeze them in batches so we don’t eat them all on the first day. They defrost really well so that seems to help us keep it under control.
Other exciting highlights – individually packaged hummus which was cheaper that the same quantity of big tubs of it and easier to take on the go in Rowan’s backpack. Greek Yogurt bars (another treat, yeah I know – but they are HEALTHY!! haha).
Also picked up a bunch of meat, crushed tomatoes and diced tomatoes which we use for everything, peanut butter, apple sauce for Rowan, cereal, eggs, butter, and three types of cheese (because cheese).
It was a BIG trip and we certainly don’t spend that much too often but a lot of these things will last us for the whole year (like the kitchen catchers… ahem, 320 bags!) so I don’t mind.
